The Leaving is my second new favorite book!! This book was just so mysterious and had me on the edge of my seat during the whole entire book. I read this book all in one sitting because I could not put it down. I was so captivated by the story and the characters and just how the story seems to unravel within each page. You get little clues her and there that I saw but didn't really think anything of it until the plot twist hit me. I was so shocked and just taken back because it slipped right past my mind and it was a jaw-dropping moment.

I loved the plot and how the author got creative with character and made them all different. We are given 3 different point's of views, Lucas, Scarlet, and Avery. Even though 5 kids come back we only get 2 out of the 5 that come back. Let's start with Scarlet, Scarlet was a very interesting character, she would become every paranoid for the littlest things sometimes and lose herself. She was also very aware of all her surroundings and wanted answers and when she wanted answers she would just get up and try to find those answers.

All through the book, she was trying to solve this mystery as to why she couldn't remember a thing about what happened the last 11 years or what had happened to Max. Lucas on the other hand always found out something new he could do but didn't remember how he knew how to do it. He also has the smallest flashback hints in the book which he uses to try and uncover what has happened. out of all the characters, I think Lucas is my favorite because he's just so open with everything and is very desperate to find out what happened and tries his best to help out with everything and tell the detective ALMOST everything he finds out.

The last point of view we get is Avery, Max's little sister. Avery is a very strong girl, she is another who is determined to find out where her brother is and has issues trusting the 5 that came back. Avery also finds herself at the end and makes some very life changing decisions for herself and her family. Overall, this book was super captivating and well written!! I want to read more from this author as soon as possible!! This one is an absolute must read. I give this book 5/5 stars.
