2nd & Charles Trip & Book Haul!

For the longest time I've been wanting to head to 2nd & Charles but with my busy schedule, I haven't had the time to head over to that side of town. Yesterday Destiny and I gathered our old books and headed over to 2nd & Charles. We had about 40 books. I knew going in that they weren't going to accept all of them but I didn't care. Before I go into more details about our book haul, let me tell you more about our favorite store.

2nd chance. 2nd wind. 2nd life. No matter what you call it, we think that’s when things really start to get good. At 2nd & Charles, we turn what you don’t want into what you want. It’s kind of like magic: turn your old books into cash. Turn your old video games into new ones. Turn your CDs into vinyl records. Whatever you’re looking for, we’ve probably got it at a nice, pre-loved price. Whatever you don’t want anymore — somebody else is probably looking for it. So let’s get together and make some magic.

Here's how it works when you're trading stuff in:

1. Once you arrive, you’ll notice some white bins near the front of the store. Take the stuff you’re wanting to sell, deposit said stuff in the aforementioned bins, and bring it up to their Buy Back counter. That’s when they’ll start assessing the value of your goodies. Please bring a government-issued photo ID. Also, if you fill up more than 3 bins, it could take a little longer to process. Just ask.

2. After you drop your stuff off, they’ll give you a claim ticket. Be sure and hold on to that little guy, because that’s how you get your money/credit later.

3. While they’re looking at your stuff, you should look at their stuff through out the store! They’ve got used books, CDs, DVDs, video games, vinyl records, e-readers, and a whole lot more. It’s all looking for a good home—and it’s going at great prices.

4. Keep your eyes peeled for your claim number on one of our screens. When it appears, head on back to the Buy Back counter. Or you could ask them to text you when your order is processed.

5. Based on the condition of your stuff and their current store inventory, one of two things will happen: 1) They’ll offer you the option of cash or store credit for your items, or 2) We’ll return your items to you. If #2 happens, please don’t feel bad and store credit is always higher than cash.

If you leave the store while your order is being processed, you must return to retrieve the order/offer one hour before the store closes. It the order is not retrieved before this time, it will be processed for store credit.

Okay so now that I've let you know a little something about this fantastic store. I'm going to let you see the inside of this store. Destiny and I waled through every single aisle and we were impressed and so excited to just see all of the things they had. Destiny as you can see was super excited!

We got a lot great books for a really good price! We found so many great books at some really great prices. Check out some of the book we found from author Ellen Hopkins.

These books as you can see are retailed between $17.99-$18.99 and they were priced  between $3.00 to $4.50! We buy any of these during our first trip here yesterday but we did grab one during our trip today. We found Beautiful Creatures for $5 and Allegiant for $5!

2nd & Charles as I said has vinyl records and I found the Temptations! I wanted to buy it so bad but I don't have a record player. My dad does but there is no way he will ever let me borrow it!

If you have this store in your state then I highly recommend you visiting! You will love it! The kids and I (and the husband) have agreed that we will make a trip every week or 2 and get a few things.

After we took our books in and got credit (which was $5.60 the first day and $0.80 the second day), we got these books:

The first day 6/20/15, we got these books:

  • Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
  • Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
  • New Moon by Stephanie Meyet
  • Allegiant by Veronica Roth
  • The Host by Stephanie Meyer
  • Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
  • No Safety in Numbers by Dayna Lorentz

This came out to $21.96 after the $5.60 store credit was applied.

The second day 6/21/15, we came in and got these:

  • Being Friends with Boys by Tara Elan McVoy
  • Identical by Ellen Hopkins
  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
  • Tricks by Ellen Hopkins

This came out to $18.22 after the $0.80 store credit was applied.

I took a picture of the back wall they have. I noticed that they were all real books! I was slightly bothered that the books were not all facing all the right way.
